BoE Has Not Commented Publicly On Superintendent Announcement

May 20th, 2019 by WCBC Radio

It’s been almost two weeks since the announcement that Allegany County School Superintendent Dr David Cox would be vacating the position to take a job with the Sullivan County Tennessee public school system- and to date no public comments from the elected school board. A special Saturday afternoon meeting was held at the board’s Washington Street offices- however it was primarily a closed session to address personnel. At one point board members Robert Farrell and Wayne Foote- each involved in separate legal issues with the board- left the session. They returned about 45 minutes later and the closed session continued for another 20 minutes. Following the meeting, Board President Farrell declined to comment on what was discussed saying only that the selection process to find Cox’ successor has not been finalized..

These people on the Board of Education asked the public to vote for them in order to give them an opportunity to serve the community. The only service that they have performed, in my opinion, is to provide a continuing spectacle in non-cooperation and self serving behavior.
These people do not deserve our confidence or our trust.

      > This was all clear to anyone who followed the campaign in the first place. We tend to vote in this area to settle scores, not improve anything. We’re all about paybacks.
