BOE Meeting Focuses On Bomb Threats

The Allegany County Board of Education’s priority to request legislation that would make a bomb threat a crime that would be prosecuted as an adult, when the perpetrator is over the age of 13 was the subject of a special meeting held Monday afternoon at the board’s Central Office.  Those in attendance included members of the delegation, School Superintendent David Cox, members of the Board of Education, local law enforcement representatives and State’s Attorney Michael Twigg. Bomb threats have been growing in numbers in recent years- with a total of 9 in the past school year. Board member Mike Llewellyn requested the meeting, saying that it’s a serious issue pointing out that it’s impossible to determine the actual level of threat based simply on a note or a phone call…

    This news is great. The county has been dealing with bomb threats for the last 20-25 yrs. so when can we get something done about all the domestic violence going on? Higher bail settings, more probation/jailtime ect???? Let everyone know it will no longer be tolerated as a slap on the wrist?
