BOE Meets With Western Maryland Delegation

Members of the Boards of Education of Allegany and Garrett Counties met with the Western Maryland Delegation at the Career Center for a pre-legislative breakfast to discuss their 2013 legislative priorities.  Both counties have requested that the Delegation consider seven common priorities as well as two additional priorities specific to Allegany County during the 2013 Session of the General Assembly. Among those priorities are to support efforts to increase school construction funding and to oppose all unfunded or underfunded mandates and  local control of elected Boards of Education. Allegany County’s top school construction project remains a new Allegany High School. State Senator George Edwards has offered assurances that funding for the project should not be a concern…
