BoE Member / Candidate Addresses Inappropriate Conduct Allegations

For the first time since the story surfaced, Allegany County Board of Education member and candidate Wayne Foote has responded to accusations of alleged inappropriate conduct. It was reported last month that several women have claimed there have been incidents of sexual misconduct on his part.  WCBC News learned that women at various levels of the public school system including at least one member of the central office staff and one teacher feel they have been subjected to inappropriate behavior by Foote.  One of those women told WCBC that she was groped by the board member at a school event- but she has not reported the incident or gone public because of the potential for a protracted and possibly embarrassing legal battle.  Another incident is alleged to have occurred when Foote entered a school classroom and is said to have commented on a teacher’s physical appearance in front of her students.  When contacted initially for comment on the story, Foote was not available, but he was asked to respond to the report during Monday’s WCBC Candidates Forum. He likened the situation to the recent controversy that surrounded Judge Brett Kavanaugh during his Supreme Court hearings…
