BoE Member Wayne Foote Voicing Concerns Over Lack Of Teacher Raises

During the current budget process, Allegany County Board of Education member Wayne Foote has repeatedly voiced concern with the lack of raises provided for teachers in the past few years. Foote has criticized his fellow board members for placing too much emphasis on finding funding for the new Allegany High School project, while he says ignoring the backbone of the educational system- the teachers.  Salary raises for employees are still under discussion between the school board and the unions representing the various staff members for the coming year, and while teachers received a 1 percent raise last year, that was  their first raise in five years.  Foote says as a result he believes employee morale is at an all-time low…
