BoE Should Be Notified Today If Jeff Blank Can Serve As Interim Superintendent

A spokesperson for State Superintendent of Schools Dr Karen Salmon  tells WCBC News that the Allegany County Board of Education should be notified sometime today as to whether Jeff Blank has gotten approval to serve as interim superintendent of the local system. The board voted last week to submit the name of Blank, chief administrative officer, to Salmon for her approval. Chief Academic Officer Kim Kalbaugh and former supervisor of transportation Jay Walbert were also in the running for the interim position. Because Kalbaugh was scheduled to testify against board member Wayne Foote this week in the case to have him removed from the board for misconduct- board members Tammy Fraley and Deb Frank called the process to name an interim tainted- suggesting Foote would likely have a bias against Kalbaugh in considering her for the job.  Board attorney Mike Llewellyn says in his legal opinion there is no conflict of interest for Foote- and in a somewhat unusual take- added that board members are elected for their biases…
