BOE Signs Superintendent David Cox To New Four Year Contract

June 13th, 2013 by WCBC Radio

The Allegany County Board of Education has signed Superintendent David Cox to a new four year contract. Cox, who began his duties in July of 2009, came to the area after having served in that same capacity for Culpeper County Virginia for 7 years.  The extension was announced as part of a brief report on recent school board closed sessions- and no comments were made during the public meeting.  His tenure is highlighted by a successful effort to secure state approval to build a new Allegany High School. The most controversial moments came two years ago when he recommended the elimination of a program that had allowed students in the Little Orleans area to attend school in neighboring Washington County.  As far as school performance, Cox tells WCBC News that he is pleased with the overall progress of the system….
