BoE To Explore Implementing A Fee For TV And Radio Stations To Broadcast Football Games

Looking at an estimated price tag of more than a million dollars to replace the field turf at Greenway Avenue Stadium- the Allegany County Board of Education agreed Tuesday night to explore implementing a TV and radio broadcast fee for high school football games. The idea is not a new one and has been discussed on a few occasions over the years- but never really seriously pursued. With little on hand to go toward paying for new turf, Superintendent David Cox says now might be the time to begin charging radio and television stations to broadcast high school football….
