BoE Votes To Keep Handbook As Presented

The Allegany County Board of Education, at its most recent meeting, voted 4-1 to keep the handbook used for its members as has been presented.  The vote was the second and final reading of the policy to keep the handbook, making official the retention of the guide. Essentially this is a condensed 21-page document derived from the lengthy state-volume detailing the duties, responsibilities and rules surrounding the ethical conduct of board members. Board member Wayne Foote voted in opposition to continuing the handbook- saying at a recent session that he feels it too cumbersome a document and that it places too many restrictions on elected board members…

During the public input portion of the agenda,  a citizen, Julia Williams, spoke in support of approving the handbook- and while not mentioning Foote by name, it was clear she was referring to him when she spoke of  board members entering school buildings unannounced…
