BOE’s Addional Funds Requests Appears Unlikely To Be Granted

The Allegany County Board of Education’s request to secure an additional $500,000 from the county commissioners in next years budget appears highly unlikely to be granted. The board adjusted the superintendent’s budget at a special meeting last week, adding the extra half a million in order to cover the cost of enhanced security- specifically additional school resource officers. The commissioners discussed the request during a general comment period during Thursday’s business meeting, and all three officials voiced little support for the proposal.
