Bongino Focusing on School Security

Former Secret Service agent Daniel Bongino announced in June that will run for Congress, rather than seek the Republican nomination for Maryland governor. Bongino announced his intentions  at a convention of Young Maryland Republicans in Rockville and has been traveling the district since with a stop in Allegany County and a visit to the fair. Bongino is eyeing the 6th District seat that Democratic Representative  John Delaney won from former Rep. Roscoe Bartlett last year. He says Republicans should never have lost Bartlett’s seat, and he is confident he can re-take the seat for the party. He said that while there are common themes from county to county throughout the district, there are some that are more important to western Maryland. He specifically noted the ongoing local issue of school security. While many are opposed to having armed law enforcement personnel in the schools- he supports the proposal put together by Allegany County Sheriff Craig Robertson…
