Bongino Remains Optimistic In Senate Race Against Bartlett

July 23rd, 2012 by WCBC Radio

Republican candidate for Senate in Maryland- Dan Bongino acknowledges that he faces an uphill battle in his bid to knock off incumbent democrat Ben Cardin- but remains optimistic that his common sense, moderate approach to some issues may be just what the voters want. On his way to campaign at the Allegany County Fair and Ag Expo on Thursday, the 37 year-old former Secret Service agent and the owner of several small businesses stopped by WCBC Radio to talk about the campaign. He says he has made it a point of visiting Allegany and Garrett counties three to four times a month primarily because he believes the western region of Maryland is largely ignored by state and federal politicians.  During his campaign stops in the area, Bongino says one hot button issue he routinely hears about is the possibility of energy production through drilling for natural gas in Marcellus shale. It is something he strongly supports, noting that if drilling is done responsibly- there is no real chance of water contamination…
