Braddock Middle Wins Regional Math Competition

Braddock Middle School's Math Counts Team once again won the regional Math Counts competition in Hagerstown on Saturday, February 25, 2017, to advance to John's Hopkins University for the State finals.  The finals will bring together ten regional champions and fifteen additional qualifying teams on March 18, 2017. 

Braddock placed nine students in the top fifteen for the competition that had over 100 mathletes. Their team includes: Mitch Septoff, Pia Gupta, Eve Hutcherson, and Moss Summerfield.  Five additional individuals also advanced: Jacob Litman, Hannah Johnson, Ricky Day, Sofia Kucher, and Cole Fiscus.  

In addition to the state qualifiers, six Braddock students were recognized for sweeping the alternate competition: Colin Sheehe, Mac Cohen, Erica Metheny, Toby Preaskorn, Justin Kiddy, and Brianna Palasik.  This will mark the 31st time in 33 years of state competitions that Braddock has advanced.  The team is coached by Ray Short and Sheila Greise. The Math Counts club at Braddock has 55 students.
