Brant Provides State of Railroad Update

Although there have been a myriad of challenges, many unexpected, to deal with this spring and early summer- the state of the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad is strong according to the chair of the board of directors. Rumors have circulated in recent weeks that there were major problems at the railroad ranging from financial issues to problems with the new management team. Mike Brant, chair of the railroad board, talked with WCBC News and provided a state of the railroad update. He says while there is no question there have been challenges headed by a landslide damaging a section of the track, eliminating the full train trip to Frostburg. That- in addition to the railroad’s two steam engines being currently out of commission have led to a slight decline in ridership thus far this season…
