Allegany County 911 has alerted WCBC News that Savage River Dam, in Southeastern Garrett County, is now overflowing. We want to emphasize that this does NOT mean the dam is failing, just that water is coming over the spillway.
The dam is located on Savage River Road about five miles from Bloomington.
Rain has tapered in Garrett County, and we will advise if authorities believe there is a need for additional precautions or evacuations.
