The torch was officially passed on Thursday as Brenda Smith, who has been economic development director for the city of Cumberland, took over the helm as executive director of the Greater Cumberland Committee. Smith has been involved with the committee and several of its organizational initiatives- and needed only a brief orientation/transition period after her hire was announced in July. At the organizations regular monthly business meeting she thanked outgoing director Colleen Peterson and said she looks forward to the challenges ahead…
