Brinkley Wants New GOP Candidate to Step In

State Senator David Brinkley of Frederick County is one of a host of candidates vying to replace 20 year incumbent republican Congressman Roscoe Bartlett’s in Maryland’s Sixth District. During a Monday morning visit to Cumberland, Brinkley said he is the most viable candidate to hold the 6th District seat for the GOP. Democrats gained traction in the district after state legislators reshaped it in October to include more of Montgomery County. Many Republicans  viewed the changes as an effort to unseat Barlett, after serving 10 terms in Washington.  Brinkley said it is time for a new GOP candidate to step up to the plate. While acknowledging there are vast differences in the economies of Frederick and Montgomery counties versus those of Allegany and Garrett- he says job creation is a common theme across the state. Looking specifically at the far western region of the state, Brinkley believes the agenda of the O’Malley administration in Annapolis have not been kind to Allegany County…
