Former Potomac Highlands Airport Authority member Terry Malone, who also formerly served as the airport manager, is continuing to raise questions to the Mineral County Commissioners about the legality of the current authority’s decision to bar him from the airport. Malone, who resigned from the authority following a heated board meeting in February, said that the fact that he doesn’t necessarily get along with the new airport authority chair Creade Brodie Jr. is no reason to be prohibited from going to the airport. The airport has had a federal compact since 1998 and the airport is not responsible to either the Mineral or Allegany County commissions. The Cumberland Times News reports that Malone requested the commission pull out of the compact, pull its financial support from the airport and ask the state to pull its funding as well. Authority Chair Brodie, during Thursday’s meeting of the Allegany County Commissioners, said there are numerous reasons for barring Malone- primarily because he has proven to be disruptive and has threatened authority board members.
