Brodie Points to Annual Tax Revenue for Dan’s Mountain Wind Support

While Allegany County hasn’t taken an official position on the controversial Dan’s Mountain Wind Farm project- Commissioner Creade Brodie Jr has been an outspoken supporter for what he believes will be a tremendous economic asset for the region.  Brodie has taken his support a step further, recommending possible uses for the tax revenue estimated at $600,000 yearly that would result.  At a recent commissioners meeting, Brodie suggested the new revenue stream be used to help cash-strapped volunteer fire and rescue departments.  Specifically, Brodie suggested earmarking 25 percent of the wind revenues to the county’s 26 volunteer departments, 25 percent to fund teacher pensions, 25 percent to county debt service and a portion of the remaining revenue to the county’s pay as you go fund, which allows up-front payment for projects…
