A dozer operator was entrapped in the equipment when a tree fell while he was extinguishing a brush fire Monday afternoon in the area of 16300 Brice Hollow Road.

The Cumberland Times News reports the operator was reportedly talking with emergency officials by telephone prior to the arrival of first-responders to the area where a brush fire was reported shortly after 1 p.m.

The location is situated on farmland and the fire involved one acre before it was controlled and extended to at least two storage buildings, according to the emergency center.

The dozer operator was reportedly trapped about an hour after units were called to the area for the brush fire.

Orleans, Flintstone, District 16, LaVale and Hancock volunteer fire departments responded along with Maryland Department of Natural Resources personnel and units from Fulton County, Pa.

A brush fire also was reported at 13800 Green Ridge Road, according to the Allegany County 911 center.
