On 11/27/12 @ approximately 3:00 p.m., Deputies from the Allegany County Sheriff's Office responded to Takoma Dr. in Barton for a reported burglary in progress. On arrival, they located the suspect in the kitchen area eating food belonging to the home owner. Investigation revealed that earlier, the home owner was in the bathroom and heard noises in the house and assumed it was a family member. When she left the bathroom, she found the suspect lying on the floor in her bedroom. She left the residence and went to a neighbor's house and Deputies were then contacted.
Arrested was Joseph Melvin Kyle III (30 years old, Westernport; * picture attached *) who was charged with 1st degree burglary, 3rd degree burglary, 4th degree burglary and theft under $100.00. He was processed then taken for an initial appearance in front of a District Court Commissioner. Following the initial appearance, KYLE was ordered held on $45,000 and remanded to the custody of the Allegany County Detention Center pending his next court appearance.

In the early morning hours of Saturday, Cumberland Police Officers were called to a Boone Street residence for a report of a Burglary in progress. Upon arrival the Officers located a subject inside the residence. The subject was contacted and stated he was walking and observed the door to the residence open. He stated he walked into the property and admitted he did not know the owner and had no permission to be in the vacant residence. It was also learned that the suspect, Timothy Hairston, was wanted for a Failure to Appear. Hairston was placed under arrest and transported to the Cumberland Police Department. He was awaiting a bond hearing for the charges.
