C3I Identifies Victim Of Train Incident

On Tuesday 07/11/2017, at 10:37 AM, the Cumberland Police and Cumberland Fire Department responded to the area of Fayette Street after a CSX train crew reported finding a body on the CSX tracks that run through that area. It was apparent to the initial responding Officers that the victim had been struck by a train.

The Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I) was contacted and also responded to the scene to assist in the investigation, along with CSX officials, and a Forensic Investigator with the Maryland State Medical Examiner's Office.

The scene was processed by Crime Scene Technicians with the Maryland State Police Forensic Science Division.

The victim has been identified as 23 year old Austin Acie Bray, of Cumberland. Bray's body is being sent to the Maryland State Medical Examiner's Office in Baltimore for an autopsy to determine and/or confirm the cause of death.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is continuing by the Cumberland Police and C3I.
