WBAL reports a City Councilman is calling for Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh to immediately destroy all Confederate Monuments in Baltimore. On Sunday, the Baltimore City Councilman Brandon Scott took to twitter to announce his intentions to introduce a final draft of a resolution that would remove these monuments. The call comes the day after violence erupted in Charlottesville, VA where a group of white nationalists - including neo-Nazis, skinheads, members of the Ku Klux Klan – rallied against plans to remove a Confederate statue. According to the Baltimore Sun, Mayor Pugh says she has reached out to two contractors about removing these monuments. Mayor Pugh released a statement on Monday morning saying "It is my intention to move forward with the removal of Baltimore City’s confederate statues. I have read the recommendations of the task force set up by the previous administration which were reported in January 2016 and provided to the public in writing in August of 2016."
