Canal Place Authority Board Vacancy To Drag Into Next Year

Although the Canal Place Preservation and Development Authority had hoped to fill a board vacancy in short order when member Mark Widmyer abruptly resigned in September, it appears as though the process will drag into next year. The board is requesting the governor to appoint Allegany County Commission President Mike McKay to replace Widmyer, who resigned because of concerns about the organization’s direction. The Authority voted in October to submit McKay’s name to the governor’s office, which must approve most board nominations, however the paperwork is only now being sent down state. Chairman Andy Vick said part of the delay has been awaiting necessary paperwork from the commissioner, however, that has now been received…
