Canal Place Authority Finalizes Management Plan

Some last minute concerns brought to the table by the state has delayed efforts by the Canal Place Preservation and Development Authority to finalize its management plan update.  Preparation of a management plan approved by the Maryland Heritage Areas Authority is a requirement for becoming a Maryland “Certified” Heritage Area. The Plan includes information on the boundaries of the Certified Heritage Area and “Target Investment Zones,” and presents the heritage area’s vision and goals and the strategies, projects, programs, actions, and partnerships that will be implemented to accomplish them. The concerns centered on the Authorities plan to expand its heritage area to include sections of Georges Creek, Frostburg and Mt Savage. Staffing could become an issue according to the state.  Authority Chair Andy Vick said it was disappointing to have  another hurdle appear this late in the process…
