In addition to revitalizing the Footer Dye Works Building and working toward creating a River Park for Cumberland- Canal Place Preservation and Development executive director Dee Dee Ritchie is thinking even bigger. Ritchie is attempting to rally support- from the community and government agencies- in kick starting the long abandoned effort to re-water the C&O Canal. The concept was discussed years ago and while there was some initial momentum- funding sources were scarce and roadblocks plentiful. Ritchie told the Canal Task Force this week that she wants to see that project taken off the back burner…
