Canal Place Heritage Area Management Plan Discussed

The Canal Place Preservation & Development Authority held an open house Wednesday to discuss the Canal Place Heritage Area Management Plan update. The event, held at the Western Maryland Station Center, was in partnership with the National Park Service and the city of Cumberland. The authority will develop recommendations for project areas and opportunities associated with Canal Place.  A National Park Service environmental assessment will look at potential projects within the Cumberland area and the city is updating its Downtown Development Plan. The Canal Place Heritage Area Management Plan, which was developed in 1996 to identify major rehabilitation and restoration projects, is set to expire. Canal Place Chairman Andy Vick…
