Canal Place May See New Updates

September 19th, 2012 by WCBC Radio

The make-up of the board has changed in recent years and a new executive director was hired in the spring- but it has been another slow year for the Canal Place Preservation and Development Authority in terms of attracting new businesses. The biggest news this year came in August with the announcement that the Beginnings Montessori School has signed a five-year lease for about 3,000 square feet of space- however store fronts remain vacant and activity has been slow to develop. Enthusiasm has not waned for Shops at Canal Place according to Authority Chair Andy Vick who told WCBC News recently that a number of “irons are in the fire” and the hope remains that some announcements will be forthcoming.
