Canal Place Task Force Has Met Three Times In 2019

December 23rd, 2019 by WCBC Radio

It has been slow going this year for the Canal Place task force which has met on just three occasions- and not since July. The seven-member task force, chaired by Delegate Jason Buckel, was created through legislation in March of 2018 with the charge- among other things- to report on the disposition of the management structure and assets that make up Canal Place. Following a meeting in late July held at city hall in Cumberland, Buckel said the hope was to meet again in October- but that session never materialized. The delay, according to Buckel, is mostly the result of having difficulty in obtaining all of information necessary needed to move forward….

Buckel says there is a chance that a more streamlined operation can come together under the auspices of the Cumberland Economic Development Corporation…

GOOD GOD! Just heard the full report on air and Buckle wants to give Canal Place control over to the CEDC? WHAT A HORRIBLE IDEA! Kelly and Miller are buffoons who couldn’t find their way out of a paper bag! They’ve fumbled every deal they attempted and have completed nothing. Buckle better get a grip!

    Mr Buckel,
You don’t know me and I don’t know you, but the CEDC has too many issues that they should be working, but because it’s too much for them they create Task Forces (Like the Canal Place Task Force) to supplement and off load some of the minor tasks. SO get busy with your seven (7) members and get something done. Make it something to be proud of and help the community instead of wimping out. Amen.

They’re waiting for at least a half million of our tax dollars to hand over for a ‘consultant study’ to come up with another asinine plan that will never get finished. It’s what we do best here!!
