Canal Place Task Force Holds Public Meeting

The Canal Place Task Force held a public meeting Tuesday afternoon- allowing citizens to share thoughts on the future direction of the tourist hub- as well as funding priorities.  Legislation was passed early in 2018 to establish the task force with a charge of examining Canal Place; determine if the Authority that oversees operations should continue in its present form; and to determine if there would be benefit from breaking up the project and selling it off to private investors. Delegate Jason Buckel, who chairs the task force, said that contrary to what some believe- the task force was not appointed with a pre conceived notion of abolishing the authority. He said the concept of Canal Place developed more than 25 years ago remains unique in the state of Maryland- and that model may need tweaked…
