Candidate Forum Scheduled For Monday

October 19th, 2012 by WCBC Radio

The Allegany County Chamber of Commerce and WCBC Radio will host a candidate forum, Monday October 22nd at Allegany College of Maryland. The complete slate of candidates seeking seats on the Cumberland City Council will attend; however congressional and senatorial candidates appear less than enthused about debating the issues for western Marylanders. For Maryland’s Sixth District Congressional forum, 20 year GOP incumbent Roscoe Bartlett has agreed to participate. However, his Democratic Challenger John Delaney has declined. Ironically Delaney turned down the invite because of a need to be in Frederick County for a later event, an event that will also be attended by Bartlett. As a result, Bartlett will take the stage alone and field questions from the panel. On the Senate side, incumbent Democrat Ben Cardin will be unable to attend, as will his Republican challenger Dan Bongino. An independent candidate, Rob Sobhani,  initially committed to attend, only to back out . Thus, there will be no segment for the U.S. Senate race. In the city council race, Nicole Wagoner, John Cline and David Caporale will debate the issues for an hour.
