Cardin Wants Limited Response in Syria

President Barack Obama has been gaining some ground this week in his drive for congressional backing of a military strike against Syria, winning critical support from House Speaker John Boehner while administration officials agreed to explicitly rule out the use of U.S. combat troops in retaliation for a suspected chemical weapons attack. Maryland U.S. Senator Ben Cardin, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, told Secretary Johh Kerry and General Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff,  that he supports the president’s objectives in Syria. However the Democrat believes the military response should be limited.
