Case Against Three City Garage Workers Will Not Go To Trial

Allegany County State’s Attorney Michael Twigg said that although three Cumberland city employees were indicted by the Allegany County grand jury on misdemeanor theft charges in March- there were no real criminal charges to pursue and the case will not go to trial. The cases of Rodney Long and Troy Zembower were placed on the stet docket Tuesday. The case of John Chapman was dismissed Tuesday. The three cases involved former city employees of the Public Works Department. Twigg said the decision to resolve these cases prior to trial was based upon the fact that the matters were being handled administratively by the city. The fact that all three are now identified as “former” city employees may represent the action taken by the city.  Twigg said that initially there was speculation that there might be additional charges; however an investigation revealed only the original misdemeanor charges…
