Cecil County Traffic Stop Yields Heroin & $23,000

Maryland State Police arrested a man on drug charges after a traffic stop Saturday in Perryville.

Michael David Blackstone, 40, of Baltimore, is charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession with the intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance. He is being held on a no-bond status at the Cecil County Detention Center.

At approximately 11:15 p.m. on Saturday, a trooper was assisting on a traffic stop on I-95 North in Perryville when a Nissan Altima failed to move over to the adjacent lane when approaching an emergency vehicle on the shoulder. After conducting a traffic stop, the trooper detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.

A probable cause search was conducted and the trooper recovered more than 50 grams of uncut heroin, more than 5 grams of marijuana and more than $23,000 of what investigators believe to be drug-related cash.

Blackstone was arrested was taken to the Maryland State Police JFK Barrack before being transported to the Cecil County Detention Center. Blackstone was also wanted on an unrelated failure to appear warrant for driving with a suspended license in Baltimore City.

The investigation is ongoing.
