Chamber Of Commerce Concerned About New Economic Development Plan

The Allegany County commissioners officially adopted the new county Economic Development Plan last week – but there are still some concerns being expressed by the director of the Chamber of Commerce.  The plan was detailed during a work session in July, presented to the commissioners by Matthew Diaz, the director of economic and community development.  Chamber executive director Stu Czapski, who has been part of the joint county/chamber work group that put together the report, said several months ago that while it’s a decent plan- there is no clear economic development vision in place. He hasn’t changed that opinion.  He said he’d like to see more specifics in relation to the county’s efforts in recruiting and attracting new business to the region. Czapski said that many counties have taken the step of hiring an outside consultant to formulate an economic development strategy….
