Charges Add Up For Keyser man

February 25th, 2016 by WCBC Radio

The Cumberland Times News reports a Keyser man jailed on an alleged probation violation is facing more charges in connection with a rash of breaking and enterings recently investigated by the Keyser Police Department.

Thomas Edward Wright, 27, remained jailed without bond Thursday at the Potomac Highlands Regional Jail in Augusta. He has been jailed since his Feb. 12 arrest on a warrant issued by the Mineral County Circuit Court . The warrant stemmed from the alleged probation violation in connection with Wright's felony larceny conviction in 2015, police said.

Keyser Police has recently investigated a series of breaking and entering and theft complaints "that have been ongoing and increasing over the last four months," according to a police official who declined to be identified.

Those investigations resulted in numerous burglary and theft warrants against Wright in Mineral County.

Additional charges for allegedly transferring stolen property, destruction of property, petit larceny, false pretenses and felonious possession of firearms will reportedly be presented to the Mineral County grand jury in the near future.

Police said additional charges could be filed as the result of more victims being identified.

Allegedly stolen property valued at more than $3,000 has been recovered and returned to the owners, police said.

Keyser Police continue to urge residents to check storage buildings and garages to confirm the buildings have not been entered. Any reports of theft not yet filed with the police department are being sought by police.
