The Office of the State’s Attorney for Allegany County, the Honorable Michael O. Twigg, State’s Attorney, announced on Tuesday, July 9th, 2013 that the cases of Rodney Long and Troy Zembower were placed on the STET docket today.  The STET docket is neither a finding of guilt or innocence but a continuance of the case without a trial.  Additionally, the case of John Chapman was dismissed today.  The three misdemeanor cases involve former employees of the City of Cumberland and revolved around their employment at the Cumberland City Garage. The decision to resolve these cases prior to trial was based upon the fact that the matters are being handled administratively by the City of Cumberland. 

John Chapman was previously charged with one count each of Theft Less than $1000 dollars and Conspiracy to Commit Theft Less than $1000, both misdemeanors.  Specifically the unauthorized use of $23.05 of Freon Gas and the collection of $247 from the scrapping of City scrap metal.  Mr. Chapman was represented by Robert Alderson, Esquire.

Rodney Long was previously charged with one count of Misdemeanor Theft Less than $1000 dollars.  Specifically, the unauthorized retention $123.50 from the scrapping of City scrap metal.  Mr. Long was represented by G.V. McKinley, Esquire.Troy Zembower was previously charged with one count of Misdemeanor Theft Less than $1000 dollars.  Specifically, the unauthorized retention of $123.50 from the scrapping of City scrap metal.  Mr. Zembower was represented by Sean P. Gallagher, Esquire.

The cases were investigated by Maryland State Police and the C3I Unit.  Fred Voss, Deputy State’s Attorney, resolved the matters for the State.
