On April 11, 2016 at approximately 2125 hours deputies of the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to an Oldtown residence in reference to an intoxicated subject refusing to leave. While deputies were responding they were advised the subject had left in a silver color Honda passenger car and the caller provided the registration information. The Allegany County dispatch center was able to determine the registration provided did not belong to the vehicle it was being displayed on. A deputy located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop in a driveway along Oldtown Road. The operator of the vehicle backed into an embankment and drove past the deputy and refused to stop. The deputy recognized the operator as being 34 year old Ronald Robinette Jr. of Wiley Ford, WV. and the deputy was aware of an active arrest warrant for Robinette out of West Virginia in reference to burglary and assault. Robinette continued traveling on Oldtown Road and refused to stop for marked patrol vehicles. Robinette continued onto Industrial Boulevard where he eventually struck the front of one of the Sheriff’s Office vehicles. He then traveled into the westbound lane and then onto Messick Road. Robinette continued onto Williams Road and onto several streets in the south end of Cumberland. Eventually Robinette passed through a stop sign on Blackiston Avenue and struck a vehicle traveling on First Street. He exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot after striking another Sheriff’s Office vehicle with the door of his vehicle. Members of the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office, Cumberland Police, and Maryland State Police searched the area while the Cumberland Fire Department treated those involved in the crash for minor injuries. It was discovered there was a female passenger in the front of Robinette’s vehicle and a young juvenile in the rear seat of the vehicle. They were transported to the Western Maryland Health System to be treated for minor injuries. The operator of the vehicle that was struck on First Street refused treatment on the scene.
Robinette was located in an apartment in the Jane Frazier Village area a short time later and taken into custody without further incident. He was taken to the District Court of Allegany County and charged with the following in reference to the incident.

Robinette was taken before a District Court commissioner and held at the Allegany County Detention Center on $20,000 bail. It was later confirmed that Robinette has an active arrest warrant through Mineral County West Virginia in reference to burglary and assault.
Assisting in the incident were the Cumberland Police Department, Maryland State Police, Maryland State Police Aviation, and the Cumberland Fire Department.
