Each year, the Children’s League holds a golf tournament at the Cumberland Country Club- the organization's major fund- raiser. Activities kicked off Thursday with a cocktail party and silent auction- with the actual tournament scheduled for today . It is a full-day, 18-hole tournament with 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. shot-gun starts and should have 60 teams take to the tees. An awards banquet will follow the tournament play with prizes awarded for overall net and gross, morning gross and net, afternoon gross and net, proximity prizes and Toughest Day Award. The League is a private, nonprofit organization that serves children birth to 21. It provides free clinics and services in orthopedic, cerebral palsy, brace, physical therapy, orofacial and speech. The league operates strictly through donations, memorials, bequests and fundraising events. For information regarding services contact the league office at (301) 759-5200.
