December 26th, 2013 by WCBC Radio

The Maryland State Police in Hagerstown is investigating a personal injury motor vehicle collision that occurred on 12/25/13, at approximately 1:08 a.m., on eastbound I-70 at the 8 mile marker.

A black Ford Mustang was traveling eastbound I-70, in the area of the 8 mile marker.  The operator of the Ford Mustang took evasive action to avoid an unknown SUV (possibly a white Chevrolet Suburban), which was traveling westbound, in the eastbound lanes.  As a result, the operator of the Ford Mustang lost control of the vehicle and entered the center median.  The Ford Mustang overturned and rolled several times, causing the passenger to be ejected, before coming to rest in the center median.

The operator, Sherman Brown (29yo) of Baltimore, MD, was transported by ambulance to Meritus Medical Center.  The passenger, Akeel Randolph (20yo) of Belcamp, MD, was flown to Meritus Medical Center by Maryland State Police helicopter (Trooper 3).  Their exact conditions are unknown at this time.

The collision caused the eastbound lanes of I-70 to be closed for approximately an hour.  The westbound lanes were also closed for approximately 45 minutes for the landing and departure of Trooper 3.

The Maryland State Police is requesting that anyone with further information regarding the collision contact the Hagerstown Barrack at (301)766-3800.

The collision is still under investigation at this time.
