Circle K Robbed

On Thursday evening, shortly after 7:00 PM, a lone suspect entered the Circle K convenience store on Oldtown Road in Cumberland. The suspect walked behind the counter and approached the employees while displaying a knife. The suspect demanded cash from the registers. The employees complied with the demand. The suspect placed the cash in a plastic bag and fled the store on foot. He was last seen running through the parking lot toward Oldtown Road.

 

            The Cumberland Police responded to the scene. With the assistance of a K-9 dog and the Maryland State Police helicopter Trooper 5, a search of the area was conducted, but the suspect was not located at that time.

 

            Investigators with the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I) responded to the scene to assist in the investigation. Investigators interviewed several witnesses and are reviewing surveillance video. The scene was processed for evidence by an evidence collection technician with the Maryland State Police Forensic Sciences Division.

 

            The suspect was described by witnesses as a white male, approximately 6-03 in height and thin. He was wearing a gray, or light colored, hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, dark colored shoes, gloves, and a black mask to try to conceal his identity.

If callers wish to remain anonymous, they can call the Allegany/Mineral County Crime Solvers at 301-722-4300, where callers may be eligible for a reward of up to $1500.00 for information leading to an arrest in this case.

 

            The investigation is continuing by the Cumberland Police and C3I.
