City to secure $2.6 million for road and street upgrades

A bond sale approved by the Cumberland Mayor and City Council could begin to address some of the road and street repairs badly needed. The city voted Tuesday to issue bonds in the amount  $7.5 million to refinance debt accrued from a variety of water and sewer projects, complete street paving projects and purchase new vehicles and equipment. $2.6 million of that will be used for road and street repairs.  City Administrator Jeff Rhodes said the funds will be used for a wide variety of projects.
