City Considering Tax Changes For Downtown Mall Property Owners

The Cumberland Mayor and City Council may be ready to seriously consider eliminating, or at least reducing the tax assessed against property owners on the downtown mall. The downtown mall is a special taxing area that receives services that don’t fall under the responsibility of the city of Cumberland. Taxes collected by the Downtown Development Commission are estimated at between $180,000 and $200,000 annually.
