City Council race down to three

July 12th, 2012 by WCBC Radio

More than three months after the April primary- the Cumberland City Council ballot is now official and it will feature just three candidates for two seats. In April,  Nicole Wagoner, John Cline,  David Caporale and Nick DeArcangelis claimed the top four spots- even though DeArgangelis has announced three days before the primary that he would not seek the office. It was too late for his name to be removed from the ballot and voters made him one of the winners that night. On Wednesday, DeArgangelis officially filed the paperwork at city hall to remove his name from the November general election ballot- meaning just three candidates remain. Co-owner of Annie’s Fine Furniture, DeArcangelis, who also works as operations manager for Environmental Services at Western Maryland Health System, said that work commitments would not have  allowed  him to devote enough attention to the position. With so much time passing prior to his official withdrawal, there had been some speculation that he might choose to stay in the race- however he told WCBC News that was never his intention…
