City Discussing Idea Of Changing Tax Collection Process Time Frame

The Cumberland Mayor and City Council is interested in further discussing the idea of  phasing the tax collection process into a one- or two-year delinquency as opposed to the current three-year delinquency. The idea was discussed during a city work session last week and again in a meeting with the county commissioners and other municipalities. Councilman David Kauffman said that given the finances of the city, it’s unrealistic to be able to continue floating the tax bill for that long a period.
