On Saturday, the Cumberland City Police Department served a criminal summons on John William Shoemaker. The summons resulted from an assault which took place at the Western Maryland Regional Care Center on Willowbrook Road between two patients. The assault took place on January 20, 2012. Investigation revealed that an argument took place between two patients at which time one of the patients struck the other in the face. As a result John William Shoemaker was charged with second degree assault, disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, and affray.
