Budget cuts have forced both the County and the Board of Education to eliminate positions, and in some cases personnel- however the city of Cumberland, for the most part has been able to avoid layoffs or furloughs. To date the county has had to eliminate 10 positions- and more may follow; while the school board has seen more than 100 positions cut in the last three to four years.
