City of Cumberland Halloween Festivities Are Planned

October 13th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

The Parks and Recreation Department and the Downtown Development Commission (DDC) will be jointly hosting some Halloween fun to try and preserve the Halloween spirit. A drive-up Trick or Treat event will be held at Constitution Park on Friday,  October 30th from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. Participating cars should enter Constitution Park from either Fort Avenue or Reservoir Avenue. At the Stop sign, cars will be motioned into the area alternately to the “Drive-up Trick or Treat” area where
each child in the car will receive a treat bag. Cars will exit the area, continuing
on Fort Avenue to Parkview to Avondale Avenue and on to Williams Street.
Participants should remain in their car at all times. City Officials and Staff will
adhere to all Safety and Health precautions including wearing masks and gloves
to distribute treats.
Leading up to the Trick or Treat event, the City and DDC will be inviting entries
for several virtual contests:
 Virtual Costume Contest – enter a photo of your child(ren) up to age 12.
Judges will award prizes for the most creative, best superhero, best animal, best
Halloween theme, best character and best overall costumes.
 Virtual Pumpkin Decorating Contest – carve your most creative
pumpkin and send in a photo to be entered into the contest. Our panel of judges
will award prizes for the most creative pumpkin, the best Halloween theme
pumpkin and the best overall pumpkin.

can do, whether you deck your house out with Fall decorations or have the
scariest group of animated ghosts and goblins. Send in a photo, or a video of
your decorated home exterior to be eligible to win prizes for having the scariest
decorations, the most creative decorations or the best Fall decorations.
