City Police Has Organized Crash Events at High Schools

April 23rd, 2019 by WCBC Radio

The Cumberland City Police Department has once again organized events at both Fort Hill and Allegany High Schools in an effort to encourage students to celebrate safely and deter distracted driving as prom and graduation season approaches.

Students will have the opportunity to view a real-life reenactment of a fatal car crash in the school's parking lot.

Volunteer student actors and police officers will be employed to stage a mock car crash to include the use of the Jaws of Life and tentatively Trooper 5. Participating partners in this drill included CPD, Cumberland Fire Department, Maryland State Police, J&J Towing, and Adams Funeral Home.

Fort Hill's prom is scheduled for April 27th; Mountain Ridge's prom is scheduled for May 4th; and Allegany's prom is scheduled for May 11th.
