On Wednesday, officers with the Cumberland Police Dept responded to a residence located in the 100blk of Pennsylvania Ave in reference to a disturbance complaint. Upon arrival, officers contacted several witnesses who advised that they had heard a heated argument coming from within the residence that may have been physical. Officers attempted to make contact with the residents with negative results. After several minutes of knocking on the door, officers were able to attempt to gain entry by using a key. While attempting to open the door one of the residents began attempting to block officers from entering the residence. Officers were then able to get the door open where they made contact with the tenants.

It was learned that there was a verbal argument and upon the police arriving, the male subject who was identified as Robert Rabideau, 34 years of age of Hagerstown would not let the victim go to the door to escape. As a result, Rabideau was placed under arrest and transported to Police Headquarters for processing. Rabideau was charged with one count of False Imprisonment, Disturbing the Peace, and False Statement to an Officer. Rabideau was taken for an initial appearance at District Court where he was released on his personal recognizance pending trial.
